Music-use recovery service

Which brands are using your music?

We find them on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, check the license, and where there is none, we recover the fee for you.

We check for brand uses first. Nothing goes to a lawyer until you approve it.
Free. No win, no fee.

Why this happens

Advertising moved to social.

Brands now make their own ads, as posts and reels, every day. The license habit stayed with TV.

On social · a reel by the brand

How it works

Find the use. Build the evidence. Recover the value.

You made the music. We carry the case.

  1. 01

    Find the use

Type your artist name. We scan TikTok, Instagram and YouTube for brands using your music.

  2. 02

    Build the evidence

We capture every use: the video with its sound, screenshots of the post and a full inventory of its reach. We trace the account to the business that earns from it, find its registered address, and seal every file.

  3. 03

    Recover the value

We hand the case to our legal network. They follow it up with the brand until you get paid. You approve every step.

One case our team worked on: one song, eighteen months, master and publishing.

Nicholas and Marcel in the snow, from their years in the band Oil
This is us, around 2000.

About us

We come from music.

We played in a band called Oil around 2000. We made records, toured the world, and our songs ran in Viva La Bam and Tony Hawk’s Underground 2. Marcel then spent fifteen years licensing music to brands. Nicholas runs our operations and the legal side. We know both rooms. Now we sit on yours.

For publishers and labels

Capture what’s owed. Protect what it’s worth.

Brands use your catalogue on social every day. We find the uses and follow them up, on contingency, with your team at the table.

  • We scan the full catalogue before we meet.
  • We walk you through every find in one call: the brand, the post, the evidence and the value.
  • We carry the cost and the risk. Every recovery is shared with the rights holders.

Confidential by default. We reply within two working days.

Questions we hear

From artists, managers and publishers.

Will my fans see me as the bad guy?

We follow up with brands and leave fans and their personal posts alone. Every case is proportional: a small business gets a friendly note, a global brand gets the full case. You decide every step.

Shouldn’t my PRO collect this?

Your PRO, such as PRS, ASCAP, BMI or Buma/Stemra, collects when your music is performed or broadcast. When a brand puts your song in its own marketing, that use needs a sync license, agreed directly with the people who own the song and the recording. That license fee is what we recover.

Shouldn’t my publisher handle this?

Your publisher licenses your songs when a brand asks. Finding the brands that went ahead without asking takes scanning, checking and follow-up across thousands of posts. We do that work on contingency, and we bring your publisher to the table.

Can a brand use my song on TikTok or Instagram?

The music in TikTok and Instagram is licensed for personal posts. Business accounts get a separate commercial library with music cleared for brands. A brand that posts with a song from outside that library needs a license from the people who own it.

Isn’t it free promotion?

It’s exposure, and it’s also an ad. A brand pays for the media, the creator and the shoot, and it pays for the music when it asks first. You can be proud of the use and get paid for it.

I don’t own all my rights. Can I still check?

Yes. The check is free for anyone who made or represents the music. Most songs have several owners: writers, a publisher, a label. When we take on a case, everyone with a share comes to the table and gets their part.

What does it cost?

The check and the first call are free. When we take on a case, we carry the cost and the risk, and our fee is a share of what we recover. No win, no fee.

Is my search private?

Yes. Your search and your details stay with TrackShield, confidential by default. We use them to send your results and to follow up with you, and that’s all.

Finally, you get what you’re owed.
